Xeno Martinez is a modern Pop Artist dedicated to creating visual narratives through his artwork. He cleverly combines a love of cartoons with over 10 years professional social service experience, working with underserved youth and low-income communities. Martinez employs vibrant colors and a cartoonish style while telling visual stories. His work explores the intricacies of lives sometimes touched by tragedy, ultimately letting viewers know life isn’t black or white.
As an artist, he delights in the way cartoons can be both comedic and political. Martinez aspires to achieve both goals through artwork inspiring others to see beyond stereotypes and preconceived notions. The animated spirit of his work goes further, giving the audience permission to poke a little fun at themselves.
A native New Yorker from the Bronx, Martinez is now thriving in Chicago. He has exhibited his work in both cities, including Heimbold Visual Arts Center, Beverly Arts Center and Pilsen Open Studios. He is also an active member of the EXPO Collective.
